Brazil endured a miserable time at the tournament in the United States, going out to Uruguay at the quarterfinal stage, and they are in real difficulty in World Cup qualifying. With just two wins from six games, they are a point behind Ecuador in the South American standings and could use a positive result to restore some pride within the fan base.

Despite their Copa America campaign falling below expectations and going without a win in World Cup qualifying since September last year, Brazil are clear favourites to win this game.

While it might be a risk to back the Selecao with any significant degree of confidence at the moment, tipping them to score in the first half is worth considering. Dorival Junior's side found the net in the first 45 minutes on each of the past three occasions they scored a goal (against Colombia, twice, Paraguay). The form of Vinicius Junior and Rodrygo at Real Madrid only boosts their chances of an early goal.

Just as Brazil are likely to score, at least one goal for Ecuador should not be ruled out. La Tricolor had a good Copa America and only went out to Argentina on penalties after becoming the eventual champions' first opponents to score against them and avoid defeat in normal or extra time.

In five of their past six games, Ecuador have scored and conceded at least once. On their last visit to Brazil, back in June 2021, the game finished 1-1. Backing a similar result this time makes sense.
