New Delhi: In a recent development, the talented son of legendary cricketer and former Indian batter Rahul Dravid, Samit Dravid, made his debut for the Mysuru Warriors in the Maharaja Trophy KSCA tournament last month. Although he did not have the best start, getting dismissed for low scores in a couple of games, he managed to catch the attention of fans with his impressive bat swing that resulted in a massive six during the clash against Bengaluru Blasters.
Coming to bat at number four, Samit failed to contribute big in his team’s total as he managed to score just seven runs.

The match was interrupted by rain, leading to Samit’s team losing by four wickets. Despite the loss, Samit’s impressive six went viral on the social media platform X during the game.
Overnight sensation, Samit, the young Indian cricketing talent, burst onto the scene after his performances in the 2023-24 Cooch Behar Trophy. He played an integral role in Karnataka’s championship-winning run by consistently turning up in the middle order, where he scored 362 runs from eight matches.
Of course, one performance of his that will stay in memory for times to come was the aggressive 98 against Jammu and Kashmir, which truly brought to light his potential with the bat. Besides his aptitude at the crease, Samit went on to prove that he was indeed an all-rounder worth having in the team by raking up 16 wickets through the tournament, including a match-winning two-wicket spell in the final against Mumbai.
Under pressure, Samit revealed the same calm and class that his father Rahul Dravid is synonymous with in the annals of the game during his glorious playing career. Dravid himself made a seamless transition from a legendary cricketer to becoming an astute coach and broadcaster, and, by all accounts, he has played a significant role in guiding the formative development of his son.
Although he is a very busy person as the head coach of India, Dravid has not lost touch with Samit’s cricketing progress. To put it even more aptly, this support got reflected in performances like an impressive 125-run innings against Frank Anthony Public School at the under-14 level in 2016.
As for the Dravid senior, the former is currently enjoying a well-earned break after his tenure as Team India head coach from 2021 to 2024. His leadership culminated in India lifting the T20 World Cup earlier this year in June. Under his guidance, India also reached the finals of the World Test Championship and ODI World Cup last year, though they fell short against Australia in both.
